Ted Hurlbut, the Principal of Hurlbut & Associates, possesses over 25 years of experience in a variety of retail, merchandising, inventory management, inventory control, buying, and purchasing roles. He has worked with both large corporations and smaller organizations, in retail, wholesale and distribution settings. As a consultant, he brings to his clients a strategic perspective to a comprehensive range of retail issues. He is particularly attuned to the challenges facing small and independent retailers.
Ted is an accomplished business advisor, strategist, analyst, and problem solver. He brings a proven track record of increasing sales, margins, profitability, cash flow and inventory productivity. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, retail merchandising, unit and financial inventory management, demand forecasting, vendor and supply chain management, importing, distribution, operations and logistics. He possesses a clearly demonstrated ability to develop, implement and optimize the use of retail merchandising and inventory systems, metrics and processes throughout an organization.
Ted holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. His column on retailing appears regularly at Inc.com.
