Matthew Rubel, chairman and CEO of Collective Brands, spoke on Monday during a panel session at the NRF 100th Annual Convention & EXPO. His message was direct and to the point, and relevant for every retailer, large or small.
“Focus on your customers,” he said. “Innovate for them. Know how they shop, and why they shop. Buy low, sell high, keep your overheads low. Anybody who goes beyond those fundamentals will wander.”
That’s a quote worth printing out and keeping close at hand.
